RHEA's Crew profiles

David Ross - Skipper & Owner

Non smoker, Nationality: British

David, a sailor most of his life, qualified at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, and later attended a commercial flying course. He was mixed farming in England and Scotland until 1981 and then skippering charter boats in the Mediterranean and Red Sea. He has skied for many years for the Ski Club of Great Britain, specializing in off-piste, for many years in St. Anton. David bought and recommissioned Rhea in 1989/90 and has chartered her successfully since then. He has a Villa in a remote Turkish fishing village and he has an intimate knowledge of the South West Turkish Coast and Greek Islands.

Penny Lefeaux - Chef

Non smoker, Nationality: British

Penny was a dinghy sailor as a girl and graduated from Birmingham University with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Biological Sciences. She spent 2 years in accountancy and then became a freelance farm secretary. Penny was farming with David and then chartering with him as chef/partner for 5 years. She also ran a ski chalet for two seasons. David & Pennyís daughter Julia was born in 1986. In 1987 Davidís Villa was built and Penny ran the Villa and watersports, including cooking, windsurfing, waterskiing and para-ascending. She was also fully involved in recommissioning and maintaining Rhea. Since 1997 Penny has been chef aboard Rhea.

Deck Hand & Hostess

Rhea's deck hand and hostess are picked with great care, they are personable, responsible, enthusiastic, capable, hardworking and with a knowledge of additional languages. Rhea's crew work together as an efficient, cheerful team, they usually have a knowledge of several languages including English, Turkish, French, Spanish and some other languages.
